Zoo Ponds
Biological
Treatment Summary
The Situation
A major city zoo operated by the
Zoological Society had extreme difficulty in maintaining
clear pond water in their animal habitats. The staff of
the zoo was required to drop and refill the ponds
continuously through the summer months.
The Solution
A proposed initial
maintenance application and follow-up treatment program
that consisted of the addition of Aquaculture into
the ponds to eliminate the organic growth and
re-establish the water clarity.
The Results
The zoo applied Aquaculture to
the pond water in July and August, during the hottest
days of the summer. The staff was amazed at how quickly Aquaculture completely cleared up the problem, and
restored the water clarity in the habitat ponds. The
Aquatic Curator of the zoo noted an incredible decrease
in the need for pond maintenance, and the ponds no
longer needed to be emptied and re-filled.
